Project Overview

Designblendz transformed approximately 15,000 square feet of existing 1970s office space into a modern headquarters designed to support the evolving needs of a national paving company. The renovation included extensive tenant reconfiguration and a complete rethinking of the workplace for a team of 50–60 employees. New Velux skylights introduce natural light deep into the workspace, while an open, double-height reception area creates a dramatic arrival experience and establishes a new identity for the office.

The workplace combines focused work environments with spaces designed for collaboration, training, and company-wide events. A dedicated takeoff and bid command center supports the company’s estimating operations, while a large flexible training and event space is served by a catering and warming kitchen. Employee amenities include an expansive kitchen and break room with custom banquette seating and a wood-slat divider, along with a library lounge featuring custom casework and a wet bar. A custom executive office and carefully integrated gathering spaces provide additional opportunities for both focused work and informal collaboration.

Throughout the project, custom architectural elements connect the new workplace to the company’s industrial roots. At the center of the reception area, a custom-designed desk incorporates a two-ton rotating mill drum, transforming a piece of heavy paving equipment into a defining feature of the space. The result is a workplace that balances the character and history of the company with a warm, contemporary environment designed for its employees, clients, and future growth.
