Designblendz played a key role in transforming the Township’s municipal complex by balancing historical preservation with modern functionality. The existing facility, in use for 49 years, consists of a 96-year-old original structure (1926) and a 68-year-old addition (1954). A feasibility study explored options, including renovation, new construction, or relocation. Early collaboration with Township leadership established guiding principles: honoring the community’s history while reflecting its current ethos, incorporating state-of-the-art standards for municipal, police, and court facilities, ensuring accessibility and security, and fostering a welcoming environment for residents and staff.
After a detailed facilities analysis, the decision was made to stay at the existing site, incorporating an 80% addition and a 20% renovation while demolishing the 1950s school addition due to its limited architectural value. The historic 1920s structure will be preserved and reimagined. The new municipal complex will house Administration and Clerk offices, Finance and Tax departments, Municipal Court, Police services, and shared meeting spaces. Through strategic planning and design, the architect is guiding the development of a facility that meets contemporary needs while maintaining its historical significance.
