Anecdotal reports and homebuyer surveys all point to one thing: people are willing to pay more for smart homes.
Two recent studies prove instructive here:
- In a Coldwell Banker Real Estate survey, of the 1,2500 participants, 71% of buyers stated that they wanted a "move-in ready" home. 54% of those said that if they had to choose between two houses that were otherwise identical, the one with the smart technology would come out on top. Meanwhile, 59% of parents with children would opt for the smart home.
- In a John Burns Real Estate Consulting survey of 22,000 home shoppers, it was found that well over half of buyers questioned would be willing to pay a lot more for a smart home.
